I can see myself spending a lot of time there
The Behemoth takes another crack at Extraterrestrial hominid with everything he learned from Castle crashers, BattleBlock Theater, and The people of the pit, and the result is Invasion of alien hominids – A run-and-gun arcade shooter for up to four players with character customization, XP-based leveling, loot and longer legs.
The new game – and it is a new game, not a remake – was announced in January. Today, just in time for PAX East, The Behemoth shared their first gameplay footage and screenshots for Invasion of alien hominids.
Before continuing, it should be noted that the cooperative is local and in line. (I hate when this information is buried.)
In many ways the pictures are what I expected. It is undoubtedly Extraterrestrial hominid, but with a new non-linear format that adapts to the current climate. I’m all about games with “steal life” weapon attributes. Other possible incremental stats include shots per second, piercing, movement speed, and defense.
If you’re intrigued by the city map screen in the trailer, the center hook of Invasion of alien hominids teleports to Earth to “invade randomly assembled neighborhoods built from hundreds of handcrafted city blocks,” so it’s smoother. You will also “take information away from your enemies to sabotage their plans, observe the quirks of human life, detonate bosses, and mutate into a variety of powerful alien forms in order to defeat the not-so-secret agents who have died. ruin your day.
You won’t have to worry about one-shot kills like before, but they can be a factor in some scenarios. On that note, The Behemoth plans to have Friendly, Normal, and Insane difficulty settings.
The release schedule is on hold, so don’t necessarily count on a 2020 launch. Invasion of alien hominids will be done when it’s done, and it’s coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
